The newly appointed Managing Director of the Nigerian Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA), Hon. Barr. Emmanuel Jime on Monday visited Nahco Free Trade Zone licensed by NEPZA and located at Lagos International Airport as part of his familiarisation tour of Free Zones to see their operations.
The new managing director of NEPZA’s visit was borne out of the fact that he wanted to work with stakeholders to eliminate bureaucratic bottlenecks to allow the much needed diversification of the economy in the country take place with the aid of Free Trade Zones.
The NEPZA team met and discussed with Kevin O’ Connor (current managing director of Nahco Free Trade Zone) and the nfz team where he also tried to understand the challenges of Free Trade Zones in Nigeria.
Kevin O’ Connor had this to say ‘Zones have a very strong role to play in economic development and diversification and can have a strong demonstration effect for national and regional governments in transforming their economies’
He finished off by saying that with the continued support of NEPZA and all stakeholders, he was confident that Nahco Free Zone would be a great economic success story for Nigeria.
